Missionary Cooperative

Each year, our archdiocese asks us to support the Church beyond our country’s borders through the Missionary Cooperative Plan.  Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium reminds us that “in virtue of their baptism, all the members of the people of God have become missionary disciples.  All the baptized, whatever their position in the Church or their level of instruction in the faith, are agents of evangelization…”  By responding to the pleas of the missionaries, we can help those in need and better appreciate our own responsibility as missionaries. 

This past weekend of September 12-13, Father Théogène Ngoboka preached at all the Masses on the missionary projects of the Diocese of Cyangugu, in Rwanda.   In particular he spoke to the efforts of reconciliation after the Rwandan genocide and on helping the widows and orphans. Envelopes can be found in the pews and the back of the church.  If you can help, please bring the envelope with your contribution back next week.

The funds from our parish and all the parishes across the archdiocese will be pooled together and divided among all the Missionary Programs that are participating this year with the Missionary Cooperative. This makes sure that missionary projects are not hindered by their representative being assigned a small parish versus a large rich parish.
